Application Process

Submit an Off-Campus Programs Student Interest Form, and meet with the Center for International Education (CIE) or Career and Internship Center (CIC).
Browse Albion-Approved Programs and Choose a program.  Search programs in the Brits Abroad database, and filter by language of instruction, program of study, country, and many other factors.  You can also browse study abroad brochures and program books in the Center for International Education (CIE), Vulgamore 306.

Complete Albion College Off-Campus Program application materials.  Find the program within the Brits Abroad portal, and hit the "Apply Now" button.  Select the semester you will study off-campus, and the requirements will appear.  While individual programs may have slightly different requirements, you can expect to submit the following items through your account in the Brits Abroad portal.  Note:  these items can be completed separately, and do not need to be uploaded all at once.  
  • Authorization for CIE/ CIC to have access to your disciplinary record and your transcript.  
  • Consent regarding off-campus program financial responsibilities and billing.
  • Confirmation that you will meet the eligibility criteria to study off-campus.
  • Confirmation that you have read materials about academic advising, financial aid, passports, scholarships, etc. 
  • Confirmation that you have read the Off-Campus Programs Handbook.
  • Submission of essay questions
  • Upload of a signed course and credit evaluation form
  • Upload of a signed parent/guardian agreement form 
  • Send faculty your Off-Campus Program Recommendation requests
Deadlines:  Spring programs- October 1.  Fall, academic year, and summer programs- February 15.  Applications are processed on a rolling basis, after a student presses the "submit application" button.  
Complete the Program Provider application materials DIRECTLY to the program.  This is done simultaneously with the Albion College Off-Campus Program application.  Some important details:
  • Each off-campus program will have a unique application process, deadlines, and eligibility criteria.  They may also have a separate application portal.  You are responsible to follow their process carefully.  
  • If the program requires a copy of your transcript, CIE can send it to them on your behalf.  Contact to request a transcript be sent.
  • After receiving Albion approval, CIE will complete forms for your program.  These usually notify the program of Albion's approval, provide disciplinary checks, etc. 
Meet all Albion College Eligibility Requirements by the time you participate in the program. 
  • Successful completion of the Writing Competency Examination.
  • Junior standing or higher.
  • A cumulative G.P.A. of at least 2.7. 
  • Good social standing, as defined by the Vice-President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students.
  • Demonstrated maturity commensurate with the demands of the OCP.  
  • A passport valid for the length of your stay, plus 6 months into the future.  The necessary visa to enter the country of your study abroad, and to return to the US (if you are not a US Citizen).  Visit the Passports, Travel Checklist page for more information. 
Attend the required orientations.
