Major, Minor, Mode, Category credit

Major/ Minor/ Concentration credit:  Courses taken for a major, minor, concentration or for the education program require a numeric grade, and must be approved in writing by the Department Chair.  This may be completed during the study abroad approval process (OCP Course Selection) or when you return to campus.  Submit a course syllabus for any off- campus course you are petitioning to have count as a major/minor credit.  This approval must be submitted in writing to the Office of the Registrar.  Note:  a course must be weighted at least as .66/.67 Albion unit to be eligible to meet a major requirement.

Mode or Category Requirements:  Any mode or category requirements completed while on an off-campus program must be approved by the Registrar and appropriate faculty committee.  This may be completed during the study abroad approval process (OCP Course Selection) or when you return to campus.    Submit a course syllabus for any off- campus course you are petitioning to have count as a mode or category.   Reference the Modes and Categories Grid before choosing study abroad classes for mode/category requirements. If you wish to get Global Studies category credit for your international off-campus program, see the Global Studies Category and Study Abroad link for details.  Note:  a course must be weighted at least as .66/.67 Albion unit to be eligible to meet a mode/category requirement.

Important:  courses weighted at less than 1 Albion unit will be calculated at the actual weighted value .66/.67.  So when you are calculating the 10 units you need for the English major, for example, this only gives you .66/.67.  You would need to make up that .33/.34 units in another way.
