Study Abroad COVID-19 Updates

Albion's highest priority is the health and safety of our students.   When making decisions about participation in study abroad and global programs, Albion College monitors public health and travel advisory guidance from local public health officials, the Centers for Disease Control and PreventionUS Department of State, the World Health Organization, and other health experts.   

Albion College also remains committed to providing students with excellent academic and intercultural experiences during their study abroad programs.  As a part of its considerations, Albion College monitors adjustments to study abroad program instruction delivery, quarantine requirements, and extra-curricular activities.

Fall 2020 Study Abroad
Cancellation of fall 2020 study abroad participation.  Given the uncertainty of the global health crisis and its effects on public health and on travel between countries, Albion College has decided to cancel fall 2020 semester-long study abroad participation.  The decision was made based on a number of factors, including student health and safety, evolving travel restrictions, passport and visa availability, restrictive entry requirements, and impacts on study abroad program delivery around the world. 

Preparing to be on campus for fall 2020.  Students who do not have a fall 2020 on-campus housing placement, contact Residential Life at to make arrangements.  Students who do not have an on-campus class schedule for fall 2020, contact the Registrar's Office at  Students who have already made housing and class registration arrangements are not required to take additional action at this time.

Deferring study abroad to a future semester.  Students who wish to defer their fall 2020 Albion approval to study abroad to spring or fall 2021 may do so without submitting a new Albion application. They are also required to contact the individual program provider to request a deferment of their partner program applications.  Contact for details.  

Spring 2021 Study Abroad 
Albion College continues to monitor its ability to offer study abroad programs and encourage students to continue exploring study abroad options.  Program offerings may be limited in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Contact for details.
